A meeting of the Central Florida Users Group was held on May 30 th , 2008 at the FDOT District 5 office in Orlando . Some highlights of the meeting included a presentation of the results of the CFGIS Action Plan to merge the CFGIS with the East Central Florida RPC Regional Mapping Program and a demonstration of the new CFGIS website; www.cfgis.org . As a result of the merging process, CFGIS was restructured including more tools, products and direct benefits for the GIS users of the East Central Florida Region. Some of those new tools are as follows: DRI Tool
Provides access to information regarding Developments of Regional Impact (DRIs) in nine Central Florida counties. Related documents such as DRI summaries, comments, annual reports, amendments and others may also be downloaded as PDFs.
Work Program
Provides access to basic information regarding transportation projects programmed over a five year period that are funded with state and federal transportation dollars in nine Central Florida counties. FDOT District Five Adopted Work Program Tool includes a list of active projects and their respective phases, a description of the projects, and explanations of how projects are funded.
ETDM Project Diary Tool
The Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) Project Diary provides impacts and mitigation costs in advance and tracks commitments of FDOT. ETDM is a FDOT effort designed to improve decisions through early agency involvement in the transportation planning process.
There are three important benefits to the ETDM process: the first benefit is the chance to quickly determine if there is a fatal flaw in the project prior to the beginning of the PD&E (Project Development and Environment) and design phases. The second benefit is that better information and outreach can reduce the number of issues to address in the PD&E phase. The third benefit was the ability to make this information available through a “project diary” for each proposed improvement going through the process.
Traffic Data
Florida Department of Transportation makes available on CFGIS website many types of public transportation data. The files include traffic counts, reports and presentations, FSUTMS model files, and more.
