Off to Alaska

From FAPA in Miami to the wilderness of Alaska . I just came back from an Alaskan Cruise. Alaskan's say that there are only three ways to get into Alaska , land, sea and birth. There were many and varied pristine environments, from huge glaciers to vast stretches of coastlines to eagle's nests. The ice bergs were calm and quiet until the roar of the edges collapsing broke the silence. The awesome beauty of the glacial ice and the ice broken out in the water was breathtaking.

What's a trip to Alaska without fishing for Salmon? My wife Robbin and I even caught some Salmon(17.5 lbs of fillets) We explored two of the glaciers, went biking and hiking at Sitka (rains 360 day out of the year according to locals) We saw humpback whales, sea lions, eagles, and brown bears.

Alaskan Cities were spread out and generally coastal. The core cities were relative small with rural development in the country side. Road systems were limited and travel between communities was by boat or air. There were lots of seaplanes everywhere.

In addition to Alaska we went to the cities of Vancouver and Victoria in the province of British Columbia , Canada . It's nice to be back where it's warm.

If you'd like to view a slideshow of the trip, please click here! It will open in a new window.
