Geographic Information Systems
“ GIS is one of the hottest information tools on the business landscape."
- Fortune Magazine.
At MJA, Geographic Information System is more than a way to make a pretty picture. We convert a question such as "Where is the best place for a building" or "How many potential customers are near this project" into detailed answers based upon geographic, demographic and psychographic information. In addition to detailed analysis we can produce parcel mapping, wetlands mapping, existing and future land use mapping, demographics research, or incorporate data with graphic for display.
We use GIS as a tool to bring a client's vision to life.
WHAT IS GIS?
GIS is a computer-based information system, which integrates internal databases (i.e. community or customer databases), and external databases (i.e. census, market potential, and competitor data) with computer mapping (i.e. locations and distributions of assets or clients) and spatial analyses (i.e. the distance between your assets and your clients, or amount of an asset relative to the distance to client's households). Whether you are determining how to reroute traffic, determine the size and capacity of a sewage force main or redistricting a school system, GIS is a vital tool.
GIS is a complicated tool and MJA Consulting LLC has a staff of in house cartographers and geographers who understand how to build a usable geographic database and not just “Draw pretty pictures” Our GIS services are provided by these highly trained specialists and technicians using state of the Art equipment and have experience working with the major GIS software available on today's market ESRI's Arc View 9.1
